They could transport things faster.

They got to work in the factories which was horrible for them.

It went from someone making it by themselves to the factory mass producing them. This is because they could make things faster.

4/11/12 Notes

During the Industrial Rev. factories became huge. The factories made production faster. It took years to make things from hand. The people now instead of making things all by themselves made portions of the place. They now make hourly pay instead of production pay. The women and children worked now with the factories. With women and children working, they payed them less.

Key invention in the weaving industry. Machine double work. Invted 1733

Mold Board Plow
Soil flipped over. Ancient chinese. Provide better germination

Corn picker
Picked corn. Worked faster. Worked harder.

Grain Elevator
Elevator for grain. Made  it easy to move grain. Was made a steel.

Combine
Invented 1884. Harvest crops faster. First pulled by horses.

Cotton Gin
Invented 1795. Removed seed from cotton. Removed seed with metal brushs.

3/21/12 Great Britain Rev Notes

Great Britain
 -3 countries make up great Britain
     Scotland
     England
     Wells
 -They farmed to live
     Subsistence Farming
         Only Growing what your family needs
-Middle to end(beginning 1700)
   Inclosure movement
       England had common grounds(land that was own by everyone) and they started to fence them off.
          The smaller common grounds were given to the larger farm owners
              If you couldn't find work as a tenant farmer you were forced to move into cities
***It was all about efficiency

-Jethro Tull(not the flute player) was concerned about the wasted seeds.
    He invented the seed drill.
       Made more efficient to plant seeds and made it into straight rows
They started to crop rotated
    Rotate the crops to help the ground get it's nutrients back
